Hi,

Wondering if there's a way to export a subscriber list. Tinkering with the free service (would be interested in going pro) and can't seem to find a reference in the FAQ or Discussion.

Thanks,

-Scott

    Two ways:
    - use the API so that the subscriber list is in your database already
    - copy the numbers from the web interface.

There's no way to export them to a CSV file or anything though. Why do you want to export the numbers? That has never come up as a use case for our customers.

Where can you view the list in the web interface?

I've looked under the "Manage" tab and can't seem to find them. I am testing with a free account and would possibly go pro but wanted to make sure that the numbers are viewable. Here is my use case as far as why I would like to export the list to excel or at least be able to view them:

I am starting up a new concept in advertising. I would like to offer the service to my clients as a way to prove that our method works. So After a couple days of running their ads, I'd like to be able to export a list of phone numbers that texted the number to give them. This in return could give them new leads on prospective clients.

The keyword I currently set was "Dinos" - I want them to text the number for a "Show this message and recieve 10% off" and at the end of the day I'd like to go to the manager and say here is a list of everyone who sent the text.

Another possible scenario I am looking at: A keyword for Apartments. Then it sends them more information for the apartment place, but then at the end of the day I'd like to give the apartment complex the list of numbers so they can call them. Help target people who are interested in their complex.

In both of these scenarios I don't want other users sending out mass text to the group of keywords... Does this make sense?

    Thanks,

    Jack

    Hi Jack,

Thanks for the further explanation. We have several companies around the country doing similar things with their TextMarks accounts to what you propose. Here are a few tips that people have found to be successful:

    1. Set your keyword to be subscribe-able, and auto-subscribe when people text to your keyword. Then the list of people who text in will appear in your management interface. You'll also be able to send messages to them, which is critical in building long term value. Companies will want to run specials and promote things, and having a big subscriber list is critical to driving business.

    2. Having a strong offer is key as well - your idea of showing the text to get 10% off is perfect (assuming 10% is a good offer).

    3. I agree with not having other users send out messages to the list - this can cause massive problems very quickly. This "chat" feature is used by very few of our customers, and none of the companies like yours that are essentially reselling the service as part of a larger package.

As for the "lead gen" use case you're describing, that's one I think has a lot of value as well, and is an area I'd like to make our product more robust to support. That is, I am planning to add a feature where you could specify an email address or phone number to be notified as soon as someone texts into a certain keyword. For high value leads where time is important, this could be helpful, and it's something a number of customers have requested.

If you'd like to talk in person about how we can help you accomplish your goal, I'm at 415-505-7625 and my email is chris@textmarks.com
