Username & Phone Number reconciliation

I have just set up a textmark, and one of the people joined without first registering. The issue with this is that we want everybody in the group to have a username with their own name, rather than "USERxxxxx" etc. When he tried to go back and register an account, it would not let him associate a new account with his phone number, giving him an error message that said his mobile number is already in use on another account. I removed him from the group hoping that he could start from scratch, but for some reason it is still giving him the same error message, even though he is not part of any textmark nor does he have an account.

How can we fix this? Is there a way to more permanently delete his number so that we can start over from scratch better?

I saw a previous user had this issue on the public forum, but the discussion was closed without any final solution proposed.

Thanks very much
-Doug

You have to make every single person who signs up for your group register for an account at lite.textmarks.com. If they register at www.textmarks.com, it won't work, they have to register using the phone number that they are using to be part of your group. Then the username they choose will be inserted in the messages in the way that you hope. This whole process is prone to pretty difficult to explain to people, and we don't respond to the support requests that come in, if for example, your group members are confused, so you'll have to support them if they have problems.

Right, I understand that it is up to me to make it clear how to register, which I think I can do okay.

However how can we retroactively fix this one case where the person is receiving these error messages not allowing them to register with their phone number because it is allegedly (though not really) being used by another account?

    Thanks

If he didn't confirm his account first, then wait 24 hours and that account will be deleted and he can try again. If he did confirm, then he should be able to login and change his username.

Apparently this did not work. What did you mean by "confirm?" Since he never chose a username or password how can he change it?
Is there any way to completely remove his number from the system? I would assume there has to be, then we could start over.

    Thanks

Below is his E-Mail to me:
I am STILL not able to register. In looking at the tech support e-mail, I guess I did "confirm my account", i.e. I got a text message and responded with "Y". Though I subsequently "STOP" ed. But I don't understand the instructions. Since I never chose a username or a password, how can I login and change it??

Hey, I tried to re-open this discussion on the website, but the comment never got posted for some reason.

Anyway, he is still not able to register a username with his number.
Can you guys please remove the number from your system completely so that he can re-register from scratch?

    Thanks
